Hello, my name is
Shakara. I was born July 12. I have a wonderful family which includes
my beautiful mother, my two younger brothers and one little sister whom
I love dearly.
I first started
skating as a figure skater when I was six years old. As I got older
I started to explore other interest. At the age of twelve I noticed
that skating was starting to come back into play within the youth community.
I started to skate every Friday and Saturday night just for the fun
of it and because it seemed like the place to be.
Around 2006 my family
and I started skating again for good exercise. We would go every Tuesday
and every Sunday. There we met our extended families who have become
a major part of our lives on and off the skate floor. As I continued
skating week after week I would observe the different talents on the
floor. It was amazing, I wanted to skate like that.
Curious to know
and learn I had started to ask several people about their particular
way of skating. It was the D.C./MD skate style. Finally November 2007
I dedicated myself to the sport and was finally ready to learn. Along
the way I had and still have many great teachers that have helped me
progress. The thing that I have learned the most that will stick with
me to the very end is that DEDICATION IS THE KEY! So with time, dedication
and my skate sisters I will continue to Blossom into the Beautiful Butterfly
that I am.
