My name is Renee
Houser A.K.A. "Nay"; I was born and raised in Washington, DC. I first
started skating up and down the sidewalk with my infamous metal skates;
I use to think that I was always faster than the metro bus. Upon mastering
the sidewalk, my mom use to take me to Kalorama Skating Rink, in Washington,
DC, on Saturday's for Matinee. When I was old enough to go alone my
cousin and I would walk or catch the bus to Kalorama. Skating was a
well-known sport in my family as everyone grew up at Kalorama. My mom
was a member of a club called "The Crusaders."
After Kalorama closed
down, I started skating in Alexandria, VA, and Skate Palace in Marlow
Heights, MD, formerly known as Crystal Skate. I stopped skating for
a few months due to an injury to my ankle. After taking some time off
to recuperate I was back on the wood again. Skating to me relieves stress
and tension, its good exercise, a lot of fun and you also get the opportunity
to meet people. After skating for many years, skate clubs were coming
back on the horizon again. Therefore, I wanted to take my skills to
another level. In February 2004, "Butterflys' N Unity" took me under
their wings and molded me into an elegant butterfly. Thanks to my dear
sisters I am smooth with a better groove.
